National Planning Policy Framework Update

HTF members were proactive in responding to the recent NPPF consultation that closed on 17 October 2011. On 21 December the Communities and Local Government Select Committee published its recommendations, reporting that most witnesses to the inquiry were broadly content with the concept and approach of the NPPF in simplifying planning guidance and did not want a wholesale rewrite. To some degree this runs contrary to the wishes of heritage organisations, and many were vociferous in their responses to the NPPF proposals as they stood.

Greg Clark MP personally has completed a redraft of the NPPF and interested parties now wait for the final publication, which is due shortly. As drafting of the select committee response and drafting of the final impact assessment will take 4-6 weeks CLG  is expecting mid March to be a realistic date for completion.
