Winchester is one of the most thoroughly excavated cities in Britain, and its excavations among the most fully recorded. Areas for discussion at this conference will include memory and identity, myth, legend and history, power, space, place, architecture and fabric, communications, landscape, art, literature and piety, charity and devotion. The main aim is to demonstrate the material past with modern memory and the implications therein for Winchester’s people, landscape, topography and history.
