Progress on decluttering

On the topic of traffic management: For many years the Forum has campaigned for a reduction in signage and street clutter. This has become a growing lobby and now the Department for Transport is undertaking a Review of Traffic Signs. The HTF Director was invited to a meeting hosted by English Heritage on 2 March with others who have been key in leading this campaign; representatives from Living Streets, CABE Space, CPRE,
Urban Design Group, CJ Davis & Associates, the Association of English

National Park Authorities and Ben Hamilton-Baillie discussed the issues and will help to advise on a way forward.

Overnight changes are not expected, but support for the idea of a 'less is more' is growing and engineers are more open to persuasion about the risk factors, through more and better examples, research and case studies.
